Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina

Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit specializing in neurological and stroke patient care. The unit includes a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and cares for patients with stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neuro diagnoses.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Med Surg experience
- Telemetry experience
- Completion of 2 or more travel assignments
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- IV start proficiency
- Telemetry skills
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Work Details
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Floating: Required to float to other Med/Surg/Telemetry areas, including COVID care units
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend; if a weekend shift is missed, it must be made up
- Scheduling: Preferred scheduling; call-offs require making up missed shifts within the same week or at contract end
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Unit Systems: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR
- Scrubs: Not provided
Patient Population
- Primarily stroke patients
- Neurosurgery patients
- Neurological diagnoses including epilepsy and subdural hematomas
Additional Notes
- No Return to Origin (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to contract cancellation
- Frequent floating may be required
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
Required Compliance & Documentation
- Background checks within 6 months
- Drug screening within 6 months (9-panel acceptable)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccinations
- Hepatitis B status or declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Physical exam (as per travel agency requirements)
- Photo ID and professional license verification
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance training modules
- Medication safety training and competency exams
- Color blindness testing within 1 year
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must pass within 72 hours of start)
