Description

Job Opportunity: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Scientist - Lab)

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Summary

  • Analyze specimens according to section procedures and policies, ensuring sample appropriateness.
  • Accurately perform test procedures, confirm unusual results, and review/report all results per laboratory policy to support accurate patient assessments.

Work Schedule

  • Shift: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Days: Tuesday through Saturday
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, Saturdays
  • On Call Requirement: No
  • Floating Requirement: Yes, may need to adjust schedule based on skill set

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Medical Technologist experience
  • Proficient in laboratory equipment operation

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Routine exposure to bloodborne pathogens and potentially infectious materials
  • Use of personal protective equipment such as gloves, lab coat, facemask, and goggles required
  • Exposure to carcinogenic, hazardous, flammable chemicals, biohazardous and radioactive materials, sharp instruments, toxic fumes, and mental stress
  • May be required to work beyond standard shift hours due to workload, staffing, or equipment issues
  • Ability to stand, sit, or ambulate for entire shift
  • Ability to move laboratory supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds
