Job Description

A hospital in Massachusetts is seeking a travel Ultrasound Tech with vascular experience. The role primarily involves general ultrasound exams with a focus on vascular studies.

Work Schedule

  • Weekend shifts only: Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Potential to fill in during the week as a last resort
  • During training, some day shifts will be scheduled to learn exams and protocols
  • May be asked to take some overnight call shifts (usually around 3 per month, minimized for travelers)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform general ultrasound exams including:
    • Upper and lower extremity DVT studies
    • Abdomen and appendix
    • Pelvic/Gynecology
    • 1st and 3rd trimester OB (including BPP, EFW/size, cord Doppler, AFI, placental abruption, multiples)
    • Basic pediatrics (appendix, abdomen)
    • Scrotal and thyroid exams
  • Assist in the OR during emergency instances on evening shifts
  • Keep ultrasound room clean and stocked
  • Perform vascular exams such as venous insufficiencies, arterial duplex, ABI/PVR, renal artery stenosis, SMA, abdominal Doppler, carotid, aorta
  • Average 8 to 10 scans/studies per day

Equipment & Systems

  • Use of Phillips Elite ultrasound machines and Parks Flo Lab
  • EMR: EPIC
  • PACS: Centricity UV PACS

Environment

  • 5 ultrasound rooms available; primarily assigned to one room
  • No floating or covering other areas required
  • Radiologist on-site from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Radiology supervisor or lead tech present on each shift
  • No Registered Radiology Assistants (RRAs) used
  • No IV starts required

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification via ARDMS
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification required
  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • Must be independent and competent in the exams listed above
  • Vascular experience required
  • Prior travel experience: Not specified as required

Additional Information

  • Scrubs are required but not provided; any solid color is acceptable
  • Orientation includes 1-2 weeks of department-specific training plus a single day of hospital orientation
  • Schedule is templated and set; no self-scheduling available
  • No weekend or holiday requirements beyond the scheduled weekend shifts
  • No call or standby required
