Description

Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to like units/sister facilities

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital setting
  • Total staffed beds: 304
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrub colors: White or Royal Blue
  • Parking: No fee for parking; parking pass provided at badge pickup

Important Notes

  • Floating between units may be required to meet facility needs
  • Block scheduling requests require manager approval and depend on unit needs
  • Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
  • Local radius for travel: 60 miles
  • Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of work eligibility in the US (I-9 verification)
  • Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
  • Social Security Card or SSN verification
  • Background check within 1 year including multiple searches (SSN trace, state and national criminal, sex offender registry, etc.)
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
  • Primary source verification of active, unencumbered SC RN license or compact license
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • References: Minimum 2 clinical references, including at least one from the unit to be worked
  • Employment application/resume with complete work history and no unaccounted gaps
  • Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to meet job demands without restrictions
  • Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety virtual questionnaire)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titers or vaccination series with boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (August 1 - April 30) or medical/religious exemption; declinations not accepted
  • COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form

Certifications and Training

  • Must maintain valid BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required if working in MS or ER units
  • NIH Stroke Certification required for ER and some other units
  • Other certifications (e.g., TNCC, NRP, EFM) as applicable based on unit assignment
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2-6 hours depending on location)
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge issuance

Additional Information

  • Hurricane season (June - November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extension contracts during peak months (August-September) if this is a concern
  • Radiation badge required only for specific roles (not applicable for Telemetry RN)
  • Facility-specific forms and confidentiality agreements must be completed prior to start
