Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Maryville, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Coverage: Every third weekend (as needed and agreed upon)
• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Patient Diagnoses: All types related to Emergency Department presentations
• Unit Procedures: All standard Emergency Department procedures
• Medication System: Pyxis
• Documentation System: MediTech
• Communication System: Vocera
• Scrubs Color: Navy Blue

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Skills and clinical competencies including:

  • Central line care and management
  • Phlebotomy
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • IV vasopressors administration
  • Procedural sedation administration
  • Care for cerebrovascular accident (CVA) patients
  • Management of near drowning cases
  • Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)

Required Skills

• General Emergency Department care (combined adult and pediatric)
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Blood product administration
• Starting IVs
• Care for orthopedic trauma, head injury
• Isolation precautions

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Emergency contact form
• Background checks including:

  • Social Security trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, and employment verification (within last 7 years)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM verification
  • HHS/OIG verification
  • Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
  • Illinois Adult Abuse Registry Search
• Professional references (2 within last 2 years)
• Resume and employment application
• Work history verification for 7 years (attestations allowed after 3 attempts)
• Skills checklist (annual)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing within 12 months
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella proof of immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
• Drug screening: 9-panel within 1 year
• COVID-19 exemptions allowed (medical and religious)
• Pass/fail medication and glucose meter competency testing during orientation

Additional Information

• Medication and pharmacology competency exams required with minimum passing scores
• Travelers will be allowed two attempts to pass required competency exams during orientation
• Weekend shifts and other scheduling details are flexible and agreed upon with the facility
