Description

Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel)

Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evenings (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
Weekend Hours: At least every 3rd weekend, possibly more depending on staffing
Call Requirements: None


Unit Information

  • Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
  • Number of Beds: 12
  • Patient Ratios: 2:1
  • EMR System: Epic
  • Float Requirements: Must float to all ICUs and Emergency Department for ICU holds
  • Patient Population: ICU patients primarily with respiratory failure, diabetes, renal failure, and ventilator dependency

Required Certifications and Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Alabama
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Skills in pressor management
  • Skills in ventilator management

Additional Information

  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs
  • No fingernail overlays allowed, including gel polish

Summary

This travel RN position in the ICU requires a minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience with strong skills in managing ventilators and pressors. The role involves working evening shifts with a 2:1 patient ratio in a 12-bed MICU. The nurse must be flexible to float to other ICUs and the ED as needed. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. The position offers a consistent schedule with no call requirements and requires adherence to a professional dress code.
