Job Opportunity: Ultrasonographer
Location: Lawton, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Under supervision, assists physicians by performing ultrasound exams on adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients to aid in diagnosis. Provides patient care, operates ultrasound equipment, and maintains accurate records.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ultrasound exams following established procedures and protocols.
- Provide patient care including explaining procedures, positioning, and comfort.
- Obtain and review patient history and clinical data relevant to ultrasound exams.
- Produce, assess, and interpret ultrasound images to assist in medical diagnosis.
- Maintain and document equipment performance and infection control measures.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly when needed.
- Maintain ultrasound labs and supplies.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and protect patient privacy.
- Attend continuing education to maintain professional competency.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to sit for long periods and stand for approximately 2 hours during procedures.
- Ability to lift and move supplies (10-25 pounds) and assist patient transfers.
- Ability to push/pull equipment up to 600 pounds on casters.
- Ability to climb stairs and use step stools.
- Good manual dexterity to manipulate ultrasound transducer and use computer equipment.
- Clear hearing and vision to interpret alarms, communications, and exam results.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team.
- Strong reasoning and decision-making skills related to diagnostic procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months (0.5 years) experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, with experience within the last year.
- Registry by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Diagnostic Imaging.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Additional Information
- Must be able to work in stressful situations and exposure to diseases, odors, and hazardous chemicals is possible.
- Must follow departmental orientation and annual in-service education for age-specific care.
- Must be available for on-call duties as scheduled.
This position is ideal for an ultrasonographer seeking a contract role with a focus on general and OB/GYN ultrasound imaging.
