Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician

Location: Nantucket, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Schedule: 40 hours/week, day shift with rotating call
Housing: Shared housing provided at no cost

Job Description

• Position requires Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Work schedule includes day shifts with rotating on-call responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), NBSTSA, TS-C, or NCCT
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military (preference for AHA)
• N95 respirator fit test completed within 365 days prior to start date and updated annually
• Health requirements:

  • MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 15) with no exemptions
  • TB test (skin or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date
• Background checks:

  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start
  • Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, Medicaid lists) within 30 days prior to start and annually
• Additional documentation:

  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
  • Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor-level
  • Skills checklist completed within 1 year
  • Confirmation of assignment form upon acceptance and for extensions
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if fit test required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity (strongly preferred)
• Tdap vaccination within 10 years (preferred)
• Positive PPD with negative chest X-ray documentation if applicable

Additional Notes

• Must complete FEMA ICS 100 training prior to onboarding.
• Conditional licenses are not accepted.
• No religious or medical exemptions allowed for fit testing or influenza vaccine.
• Fit testing cannot be performed onsite; must be completed prior to start.
• Housing agreement required if staying in provided housing.
