Job Opportunity: MRI Tech

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 8 PM to 6:30 AM
  • Holidays: Required to work if they fall on scheduled shift
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Daily caseload: Varies
  • Overtime: Available
  • Radius rule: 60 miles
  • Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis

Required Qualifications

  • MRI Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Siemens MRI experience required
  • Certifications/Licenses:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
    • ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required

Facility & Work Environment

  • Type: Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma center
  • Total staffed beds: 865
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrub color: Teal top, black bottom
  • Parking: Nights and weekends only, one-time $20 parking pass fee
  • Hurricane season (June-November): May require participation in emergency response teams

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9 attestation)
  • Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
  • Social Security Card or SSN verification
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year work/living history
    • National and state criminal checks
    • Sex offender registry
    • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification (diploma or transcripts preferred)
  • References: 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Work history verification for last 3 clinical employers
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
  • Color blindness testing prior to start
  • Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions (must be completed before orientation)
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge (frontal view, business casual attire)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit test: N95 mask fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
  • TB test: T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Flu vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed

Additional Notes

  • MRI Techs are NOT required to have a South Carolina Radiology license
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Travelers must comply with all facility-specific policies and complete required modules before starting
  • Emergency response participation may be required during hurricane season
