Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele
Location: Simpsonville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Floating to other hospitals/units as needed (must be qualified and competent for floated units)
Patient Population
- Orthopedics
- Bariatrics
- Telemetry unit patients
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Registered Nurse specialty (MS/Tele)
- At least 2 years experience specifically in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry field
- First-time travelers will be reviewed but preference for experienced travelers
Required Certifications & Licenses
- South Carolina RN License
- ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross, RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., TNCC, ENPC, PALS, NRP, EFM) — check unit specifics
Required Skills & Systems Experience
- Medication system: Pyxis
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC electronic health record experience
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check (7-year history, including aliases and all states/counties lived/worked in last 7 years)
- Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas)
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption (seasonal requirement)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or declination
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity documentation
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Respirator fit test to be completed onsite during orientation
- Photo for badge (passport style, specific background and quality requirements)
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online modules within 72 hours of assignment (approximately 12 hours)
- Pass/fail testing on medication and arrhythmia knowledge required prior to start
- Annual competency exams and core training (Parts I, II, III) required
- Floating policy acknowledgment required annually
Additional Notes
- Floating to other units is mandatory as per policy, but only to units where the nurse is qualified
- Candidates must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access setup and while on duty
- Candidates must complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start
- Some certifications and trainings may have associated costs borne by the candidate
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
- Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
