Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) travel contract. This role requires specialized skills in open heart surgery and related cardiovascular procedures. The position involves working 4x10 hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM) with mandatory on-call duties (30-minute response time).


Required Experience & Skills

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of CVOR experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • MAB (Medication Administration Badge)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with ECMO
  • Experience with LVAD
  • Experience with Impella
  • Experience with CABG procedures
  • Experience with pericardial window procedures
  • Experience with thoracotomies
  • Experience with VATS procedures

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for North Carolina
  • ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA or ARC approved)
  • Pass/Fail EKG competency exam required
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit specifics

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Drug screening (10-panel, negative result required)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95 respirator fit test) completed annually
  • Fingerprinting (NC SBI Fingerprint Results) if applicable
  • References: 2 supervisory references from clinical assignments within the last 24 months
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Work history verification for the last 5 years

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete a mandatory pass/fail EKG exam prior to start
  • Candidates must be aware of and comply with all facility-specific policies including dress code, floating policy, and contractor equipment acknowledgment
  • Orientation and onboarding tasks must be completed prior to start date
  • Strict compliance with all health and safety documentation is required for clearance
  • No first-time travel nurses unless they have prior open heart or CVOR experience

Schedule & Work Environment

  • 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, daytime hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
  • Call required with a 30-minute response time
  • Zero tolerance for tardiness and unexcused absences
