Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - PICU/NICU

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience. This is a travel contract position in a children’s hospital setting.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Pediatric patients
  • Experience working with Neonate patients
  • Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification from AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
  • Other certifications may be required based on clinical track and unit requirements

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and screenings including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Respirator clearance annually for respirator use (RespSafety clearance)
  • Fit mask testing (N95 or equivalent) annually, completed onsite if no recent record

Background and Documentation

  • Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Education verification required
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required prior to start
  • Various state-specific and facility-specific background checks and attestations as applicable

Work Environment

  • Children’s hospital with Level II Pediatric Trauma Center designation
  • Total staffed beds: 181
  • Free parking available
  • Scrub colors: RRTs wear Galaxy Blue/Royal Blue

Additional Notes

  • Floating to other units is not required for this position
  • On-call shifts are not required
  • Weekend work is generally every other weekend but may vary
  • Block scheduling is required
  • Must comply with all facility-specific training modules and regulatory requirements prior to start
  • Must complete required WorkRamp training modules annually as assigned
