Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Job Description

• Provide care for neuro and cardiac high acuity patients in a fast-paced critical care environment.
• Work primarily in a busy Cardiac ICU with multiple open heart surgeries daily.
• Manage patients requiring ECMO, LVAD, frequent bronchoscopies, and percutaneous tracheostomies.
• Perform arterial blood gases (ABGs) and administer breathing treatments.
• Staffing ratio is approximately 1:4.
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend.
• Medication system used: Pyxis.
• Documentation system used: EPIC.
• Ventilators used include Avea and Drager models.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Washington
• Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Work Environment & Additional Details

• High acuity patients with no intermediate floor; patients require more intensive care than typical floor patients.
• Fast-moving critical care unit with changing acuity and assignments throughout shifts.
• Scrubs color: Olive Green (not mandatory).
• Must be willing to float to other nearby facilities if needed.
• Use of specialized equipment and systems (Avea and Drager ventilators, Pyxis medication system, EPIC documentation).
• Must complete required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules annually.
• Must complete Epic training modules as assigned.
• Fit mask testing required annually; onsite testing available if no recent record.
• Compliance with state-specific background and registry checks as applicable.

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 1 year specialty experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics. The role requires prior travel experience and active Washington state licensure. The position involves working in a high-acuity cardiac ICU setting with complex patient care needs and advanced respiratory therapies. Candidates must meet comprehensive health, background, and certification requirements and be prepared for weekend coverage every other weekend.
