Job Opportunity: Clinical Documentation Specialist
Location: Geneva, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- Fully remote position
- No on-call or weekend requirements
- Meal break: 30 minutes
- Requires experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)
- Knowledge of Epic and 3M 360 CAC systems required
- Must successfully manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
- Effective communication with key stakeholders is essential
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum of 1 year of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Proven CDI experience
Preferred Qualifications
- RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS certifications preferred
- CDIP certification is a plus but not required
- Experience in an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) preferred
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or RQI accepted (required for all RNs)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or RQI accepted (required for certain RN specialties)
- Other certifications may be required depending on specialty (not specified for this role)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Complete and maintain all I9 documentation
- Valid Driver’s License or Government Photo ID preferred
- Proof of name change if applicable
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
- Education verification of highest degree completed
- Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry eligibility and fingerprinting required prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties
- Fit mask testing (3M Aura 1870+) within 12 months of start and annually
- Required immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella (chickenpox) immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start
- Sexual harassment training required annually
- Various facility-specific agreements and acknowledgements must be signed prior to start
