Registered Nurse - OB

Location: Devils Lake, North Dakota
Employment Type: Long Term
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide direct nursing care in labor and delivery, following established policies and protocols. Maintain skills appropriate to patient age and coordinate patient care within the interdisciplinary team. Provide patient education to ensure safe discharge.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily patient rounds to ensure quality care and address unmet needs.
• Develop individualized care plans based on comprehensive patient assessments.
• Assess patient conditions, set goals, and implement nursing actions including discharge planning.
• Promptly assess and manage patient pain according to protocols.
• Identify early warning signs of patient deterioration and respond appropriately, including emergency measures.
• Communicate observations and interventions accurately to the care team; complete incident reports each shift.
• Provide education and counseling to patients and families to optimize understanding and outcomes.
• Delegate nursing interventions safely within scope of practice.
• Perform other duties as needed to support department and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• STABLE certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
