Ultrasound Tech - MFM

Location: Hermiston, Oregon
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 9 weeks


Job Summary

Provide diagnostic ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in areas including OB/GYN, abdomen, breast, vascular, and small parts. Use professional judgment to perform sonography, assist licensed practitioners, and ensure patient care and comfort throughout procedures. May serve as an advanced user with in-depth knowledge of ultrasound applications and provide training to peers.


Essential Job Functions

  • Perform diagnostic sonography procedures and document clinical history.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, provide instructions, and minimize anxiety.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and select appropriate transducers and frequencies.
  • Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate anatomy while respecting patient comfort.
  • Evaluate image quality and verify proper identification.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with interventional procedures and ensure informed consent.
  • Practice aseptic techniques and initiate basic life support if necessary.
  • Administer contrast media and/or medications as prescribed, where permitted.
  • Provide patient education and maintain confidentiality of records.
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities.
  • Provide instruction to students and healthcare professionals.
  • Support department inventory and equipment decisions.
  • Float to other qualified patient care departments as needed.
  • Pursue continuing education to maintain licensure and certifications.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited sonography program or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) sonography experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered OBMI and ARDMS Ultrasound Sonographer.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred:

  • CRASE training (required if assignment extends beyond 6 months).

Additional Notes

  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience indicated.
  • Must adhere to patient care standards, medical ethics, and universal precautions.
  • May be required to float to other departments where qualified.
