Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (MedSurg)
• Shift: 3 or 4 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:6; may flex to 1:7 during unplanned absences
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call: Yes, as needed for low census
• Floating: Required to float within scope to similar units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Rapid Response experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

• Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
• Travel Radius: Within 60 miles of Florence, SC
• Block Scheduling: Possible with prior approval (not guaranteed)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid South Carolina RN license or Compact license
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Background check including 7 years of history and multiple national/state registries
• Drug screening (10-panel urine test within 90 days of start)
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination/declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption during flu season
• Physical exam updated annually attesting ability to meet job demands
• Respirator medical clearance annually (for patient-facing roles)
• Proof of 2 clinical references and recent performance evaluation (within 12 months)
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
• Passport-style photo for badge issuance

Important Notes

• COVID-19 vaccinations are highly preferred but not required; if declined, a specific declination form must be completed
• During hurricane season (June–November), employees may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Radiation badges required only for certain specialties (not applicable for MedSurg RN)
• Education verification may be required; diploma or transcripts preferred as placeholder if verification is pending
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position
