Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Facility Type: Short term acute care, major teaching hospital, Level I trauma center
Charting System: EPIC
Guaranteed Hours: Yes
Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- Experience with EPIC charting system
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Flu vaccine required annually (no exemptions)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific rules for positive history)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive antibody titers required (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B vaccination, titer, or declination documentation required
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months (applicable to respiratory professionals)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation for 2025-26 required
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including multi-county and nationwide searches
- Education verification from accredited respiratory care program required
- Social Security card (if used for I9)
- Valid government-issued photo ID or driver’s license
- Employment application and 7 years of work history documented
- Two professional references from employment within last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Competency exams and unit-specific skills checklists required
- Facility-specific onboarding documents and online modules must be completed prior to orientation
- Candidate must set up a facility guest account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
Additional Notes
- Locals accepted within a 75-mile radius (local pay rate applies)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Candidate must complete all required certifications and documentation before start
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing on basic tech knowledge (except RRTs)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training provided onsite during orientation (valid for 2 years)
This position offers an opportunity to work in a nationally ranked, major teaching hospital with a high level of specialty care and trauma services. Candidates must be fully compliant with all licensing, certification, health, and background requirements to be considered.
