Description

Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a Stepdown Float Pool unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts (rotating day/night shifts, 7pm-7:30am or 7am-7:30pm). Shift rotation may be required based on operational needs.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Stepdown experience, with Stepdown experience within the last year.
  • Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Current NIHSS certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications must be current and valid at start.
  • Additional certifications preferred but not required: PCU/Progressive Care experience.
  • Pass/fail testing on medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation.

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and documentation required:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with annual updates if applicable)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (or approved medical/religious exemption)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.

Background & Documentation

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Background check including 7-year FCRA compliant search, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually. Fingerprinting must be completed prior to start.
  • Education verification required.
  • Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area.
  • Two professional references from recent employment within 1 year required (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete required online onboarding modules prior to start.
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
  • Candidates with a break in employment longer than 6 months may need to repeat orientation modules.
  • Candidates must use their legal name on all documentation and onboarding systems.
  • Facility requires compliance with all health, safety, and competency testing policies.

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown RNs with strong clinical skills, flexibility for rotating shifts, and readiness to meet comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements.
