Work Schedule

• Evening/Night shifts (8 or 12 hours)
• Shift times include: 1900-0730, 2300-0730, 1500-2330
• Every other weekend rotation
• Holidays and 1 on-call shift every 6-week scheduling period

Job Description

• Provide respiratory care to patients including aerosolized medication, volume expansion, airway clearance techniques, tracheostomy care, and sputum inductions.
• Manage non-invasive ventilation, high flow oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation in Intermediate Care (IMC) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate patient care plans.
• Floating may be required; shifts could be assigned across multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Additional Requirements

• Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site.
• Must be willing to float to different units or locations as needed.

Compliance & Documentation

• Background checks including criminal history and caregiver screening required.
• Education verification required.
• Various health and immunization documents required, including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or exemption.
  • Varicella vaccination or exemption.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
• Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines.
• Physical exam documentation required to meet agency standards.
• Completion of facility-specific competency exams and orientation requirements.
• Annual skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.

Certifications & Testing

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications may be required depending on assignment.
• Facility-specific telemetry exams and rhythm interpretation courses may be required for certain units.
