Job Opportunity: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Medical Surgical

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Available to work every other holiday, if needed
Charting System: EPIC experience required
Accepts First-Time Travelers: Yes

Required Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in New York
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Medical-Surgical experience within the last year
• Telemetry experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with EPIC charting system

Unit and Work Environment

• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5-6 during day shifts
• Patient Population: Medical patients including COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, and social issues
• Floating: May be required to float within skillset
• Uniform: Navy blue and white scrub colors

Additional Requirements and Information

• Background Checks: 7-year criminal background check, education verification, and other standard screenings required
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella)
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency and other profession-specific exams as required
• References: Two references within 3 years required (for certain candidates)
• Orientation: Safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific onboarding required

Notes

• The client may cancel up to three shifts during the contract without penalty.
• Requests for time off or special scheduling must be submitted with the application and cannot be changed after offer acceptance.
• Locals are accepted for this position.
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.

This position is ideal for LPNs with recent acute care experience looking for a travel contract in a medical-surgical setting with telemetry monitoring.
