Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Canton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
- Must have Epic electronic health record experience
- AHA or American Red Cross BLS & ACLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Certification must be obtained prior to start
- One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required for submission
- Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam during orientation
- Traveler must work at least every other holiday
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- At least 1.5 years of Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver's license or state ID)
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
- Flu vaccination documentation for current season (declinations not accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
- Employment application including at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years clinical practice in acute care, similar area
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- SafeMedicate and ECG competency exams during orientation with minimum passing scores (SafeMedicate 90%, ECG 80%)
- Modules and onboarding must be completed before clearance to start
- Must comply with facility policies on holiday work and attendance
References
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start date, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and at the facility prior to start
- Candidates with gaps in employment greater than 6 months may need to repeat onboarding modules and competency exams
- Legal name must be used consistently on all documentation and onboarding systems
- Facility requires compliance with all health and safety documentation and immunization requirements without exceptions
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with strong clinical skills, Epic experience, and the ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced acute care environment.
