Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech Maternal Fetal
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Ultrasound Technologist with expertise in Maternal Fetal ultrasound, including OB/GYN and general ultrasound imaging. This role requires proficiency in multiple ultrasound areas and the ability to work variable shifts including nights and backup call.
Schedule & Work Details
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 8:30 PM – 6:30 AM, weekday nights
- Backup call coverage approximately every 6 weeks (Monday-Thursday, 7 PM – 7 AM)
- Weekend availability preferred
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Floating between general and OB/GYN ultrasound duties
- Charting experience with Epic required
Required Certifications
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Required Clinical Skills
- Proficient in OB/GYN imaging (all trimesters, fetal anatomical surveys, amniotic fluid index)
- General abdominal ultrasound (liver, gallbladder, biliary tract, pancreas, spleen, abdominal aorta)
- Vascular ultrasound (aorta)
- Pelvic/genitourinary ultrasound (bladder, ovaries, uterus, vaginal, renal/bladder)
- Small parts ultrasound (thyroid, testicles/scrotum, superficial masses)
- Adult and portable studies across various work settings
- Pediatric exam experience preferred
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience
- Recent Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience within the last year
- ARDMS certification
- BLS certification
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- Small parts ultrasound experience
Additional Requirements
- Must provide I-9 or attestation
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID required within 48 hours of signing (address must be more than 100 miles from the facility)
- Background check covering 7 years of history required within 1 year of start
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Education verification of highest earned degree required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Fit testing within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start
- Required immunizations or positive titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 2 clinical references required
- Complete application/resume required
- Skills checklist updated annually
Notes
- Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Radius rule: local candidates not accepted
- Orientation and compliance paperwork must be completed prior to start
- Candidate must review and acknowledge safety and orientation manuals
This position offers the opportunity to work in a Level I Trauma Center with advanced maternal fetal ultrasound services integrated with a NICU and board-certified maternal fetal medicine specialists.
