Description

Job Opportunity: Nurse - Transitional Care Unit

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work varied shifts (shift lengths and days vary; flexibility required)
  • Scheduled 36 hours per week after first full week of orientation
  • No guarantee of hours or shift preference
  • May float to Medical-Surgical and Surgical Pediatrics units
  • Unit size: 32 beds (Transitional Care Unit)
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio:
    • Day: 1 nurse to 8 patients with 1 aide per 6 patients
    • Night: 1 nurse to 8 patients

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2 to 10 years of nursing experience
  • Prior travel experience is required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have an active Hawaii nursing license by the start of the assignment
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification is not required unless mandated by the agency

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required before contract start
  • Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday
  • Professional nursing attire required

Equipment & Procedures

  • Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis
  • Care involving wound vac, chest tubes, tube feeding (NG/G-Tubes), tracheostomy care, PICC/PORT lines

Orientation & Training

  • Orientation provided for each unit

This position requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced transitional care environment.
