Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Acute Care – Orthopedics, Neurology, General Surgery
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights
• Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
• Call Requirements: None
• Patient Ratio: 5-6 patients per nurse
• Unit Beds: 42
• EMR System: EPIC
• Equipment Used: Alaris infusion pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing system

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Acute Care experience
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Skills & Experience

• Post-operative assessments
• Pain management
• Wound and drain care
• Ability to float occasionally to like units within scope, including nearby facilities within a 25-mile radius

Work Environment & Culture

• Patient population primarily post-operative surgery and medical overflow
• Dress code: Navy scrubs; fleece and certain attire not permitted
• Personality fit: Displays strong communication, compassion, critical thinking, and collaboration skills
