Job Opportunity: Observation Unit Registered Nurse
Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Registered Nurse in Observation Unit
- Shift: Primarily 3 shifts of 12 hours at night (details to be discussed during interview)
- Facility is traveler-friendly with quick interview and offer process
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of Direct Observation Unit (DOU) experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
- Drug screening within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel of substances
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
- Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:
- TB (negative test or chest X-ray)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis A, B, and C
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Seasonal Flu vaccine (or approved medical/religious exemption)
- COVID-19 vaccine (seasonal vaccine required; declination form if opting out)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of orientation and annual education modules prior to or shortly after start
- Completion of confidentiality, attestation, and IT access agreements before start
- N95 fit testing onsite at orientation (male candidates must be clean-shaven)
- Submission of exemption forms for flu and COVID vaccines if applicable and approved prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Completion of skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the organization for over 1 year

- This is a travel/contract role with a 13-week assignment length
- Night shift focus with 12-hour shifts
This opportunity is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of recent Direct Observation Unit experience, a current West Virginia RN license, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, and an Associate Degree in Nursing who is interested in a travel contract position in an observation unit setting.
