Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU/Neuro Stepdown

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Neuro Stepdown
• Targeted Start Date: Immediate availability needed
• Floating: May float to Med/Surg, Neuro, Stepdown, PCU units
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
• Blocked Scheduling: Not available
• On-Call: Not required
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted
• Local Candidates: Accepted (within 75 miles)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least 1 year of recent PCU experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

• Valid physical exam within 12 months
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with appropriate documentation if history of positive TB)
• Up-to-date immunizations including Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio
• Negative 10-panel drug test (including THC) within 30 days of start
• Background checks including SSN trace, county checks for past 7 years, sex offender, education verification, and sanction list searches
• Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (one must be a supervisor)
• Completion of required competency exams and unit-specific orientation modules
• Setup of a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance for orientation and work access

Additional Notes

• Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
• Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation
• Competency checklists must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided onsite if applicable
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and documentation deadlines

This position is suitable for nurses with recent experience in neuro or stepdown care, or those with strong general medicine or surgical backgrounds seeking a travel contract in North Carolina.
