Description

Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, day/night rotating (0700-1930 & 1900-0730)
Schedule Requirements:

  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays as needed
  • Float to ICU and Intermediate Care (IMC) required

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
  • Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section
  • Must have proof of pending license status at submission and hold a valid District of Columbia nursing license prior to start date.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in District of Columbia.
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience, with CVICU experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 90 days, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Drug screening within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
  • Immunization and health documentation including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year, updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • EKG Competency Exam (Relias Dysrhythmia Basics A) must be current within 1 year and meet score requirements.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score within 3 years.
  • Color blindness testing (online or in-person).
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required prior to start and updated annually.

Additional Notes

  • Locals within 60 miles may be considered at different rates (not disclosed here).
  • Candidates must complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
  • Two positive supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a critical care cardiovascular setting with rotating shifts and requires strong clinical skills, certifications, and compliance with health and safety standards.
