Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit

Job Description

• Work in a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
• Shift schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating shifts possible based on operational needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
• Current certifications required:

  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIHSS.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.

Additional Information

• Candidates must complete required online onboarding modules prior to start.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; results required before contract extension.
• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if prints are completed prior to start.
• Must comply with facility-specific policies and complete all required documentation and training.
• Medication and ECG competency exams have minimum passing scores (90% medication, 80% ECG).
• Candidates with gaps in employment greater than 6 months may need to retake orientation modules and exams.
• Travel experience is not explicitly required beyond Stepdown experience, but prior travel experience in Stepdown is accepted.

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in a Stepdown unit requiring at least 18 months of permanent RN experience in the specialty, Ohio licensure, and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. The role involves rotating 12-hour shifts with holiday work expectations and requires successful completion of competency exams and health screenings. Candidates must complete onboarding modules and meet all background and health requirements prior to starting the assignment.
