Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Buffalo, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work areas: Special Care Unit/ICU and Medical-Surgical (MedSurg); flexibility to float between both as needed
• Shift options: Days (7am-3:30pm), Evenings (3pm-11:30pm), or Nights (11pm-7:30am)
• Shift length: 8-hour shifts, 9 shifts in two weeks
• Weekend requirement: Work every other weekend
• Accepts first-time travelers

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Minnesota
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Additional Requirements

• Criminal background check within one year of start date
• MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required prior to start (no pending fingerprints allowed)
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Adult Tdap vaccine (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
• Respiratory safety clearance (RespSafety questionnaire) required before start
• Completion of assigned online pre-orientation training modules within 72 hours of assignment start
• Passport-style photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing

Notes

• Candidates may be required to float within the scope of practice between ICU and MedSurg units
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
• Background checks include statewide and nationwide criminal searches, sex offender registry, and other standard screenings
• Drug testing is not required for client clearance but must be within one year if completed
• References are not required for client clearance and will not delay start date

This position offers a structured schedule with flexibility in shifts and the opportunity to work in critical care and med-surg settings. It is suitable for RNs with at least one year of experience looking for a travel contract in Minnesota.
