Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for all candidates (AHA provider or AHA RQI accepted; RQI provider from other vendors not accepted)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Required for Behavioral Health clinical candidates (may be completed onsite twice per month)

Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM may be required or recommended depending on unit but are not mandatory for this role.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documents & Checks

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, criminal, federal, and education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification (ADN or BSN required)
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask models required)
• Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and titers (must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • TB test or chest X-ray (negative within 1 year)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
  • Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series; declination allowed)
  • Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
• Flu seasonal vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (for 2025-26 season)
• Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, no headgear)
• Employment application including 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
• Work history verification covering 7 years of employment

Additional Requirements

• Fingerprinting and addition to Illinois Department of Public Health Registry required if the candidate’s profession does not require an Illinois state license. Fingerprints must be completed in Illinois no later than the Monday before start date.
• Two professional references required.
• Completion of facility orientation modules prior to start (approximately 2 hours).
• COVID-19 and Influenza vaccine exemption forms available but require facility approval and must be submitted at least one week prior to documentation due date.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
• Candidates must be able to work every other weekend and float as needed.
• This position uses Epic for electronic charting.
