Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Clinton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
- Shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730)
- Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Float within skillset required
- Must have triage experience
- Must have worked in an ED setting with at least 45,600 visits per year (approx. 125 visits/day) within the past 8 months
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working in an ED setting with at least 45,600 visits per year (approximately 125 visits per day) within the past 8 months
- Prior travel nursing experience
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by AHA or ARC
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Triage experience required
- Experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
Additional Requirements
- Physical exam annually confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Background check within 90 days including criminal, education verification, and other standard screenings
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
- Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score) within 3 years of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias Dysrhythmia Basics A) within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
- Other certifications as required by unit description (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Work Environment & Expectations
- High-volume emergency department setting
- Ability to work nights and holidays on a rotating basis
- Flexibility to float within the emergency department skillset
This position is ideal for experienced ED Registered Nurses with prior travel experience seeking a 13-week travel contract in Maryland.
