Job Description

• Shift: 3x12-hour shifts with every other weekend required.
• First-time travelers are accepted.
• Primarily assigned to Labor & Delivery (L&D) with required L&D experience.
• May float between NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics units based on facility needs.
• May also float to a nearby hospital location.
• Must have experience in a Children's Hospital within the last 3 years or experience at a level 1 adult facility.
• Minimum 2 years PICU experience required.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Indiana State Respiratory Therapist License required (temporary license accepted if applied for permanent).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable.
• NBRC RRT credential required.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required if placed in L&D (can be obtained after offer).
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred.
• Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana.
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience.
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• NBRC credential.

Additional Requirements

• Must provide written confirmation of comfort with every other weekend shift requirement before submission.
• Valid Driver’s License or Passport required (clear copy).
• Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start date.
• Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirator models required).
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
  • Vaccinations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B.
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season (no declinations accepted).
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months.
• Competency exams and unit-specific orientation required.
• Completion of mandatory online modules prior to orientation (for RRT candidates).

Unit Information

• Home unit assignment will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics but may change based on facility needs.
• Floating between NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics units is expected.

Notes

• Indiana Respiratory Therapists will not be allowed to work at the facility after 11/30/24 except for certain exempt areas (Perioperative, Allied, Ambulatory).
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

References & History

• Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment required (within 2 years).
• Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps of 30+ days required.
• Skills checklist must be completed annually and within 12 months of start.
