Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - North Carolina (Winston Salem)
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Target Ratios: 1:6 (normal staffing), up to 1:7 during high census or critical staffing
- Float Requirement: Floating required as needed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling
- Unit Orientation: 24 hours
- Scrubs: Navy and/or white
- Patient Population: Medical-surgical patients (no cardiac telemetry patients)
- Unit Systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
Required Skills and Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- IV Start
- Telemetry skills
- BCLS certification
- EPIC experience required
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- ACLS
- NIH Stroke Certification
Additional Requirements
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
- Floating and weekend shifts are mandatory
- 36 hours per week can be offered
Required Qualifications
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience (2 years), including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with EPIC
- Valid Registered Nurse license for North Carolina
- Background checks including local, federal, national criminal, sex offender, and education verification
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
- Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (if applicable)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per guidelines
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance training modules
- Medication competency and color blindness testing as applicable
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (for travel and acute care)
Important Notes
- No Return to Origin (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
- Navy and/or white scrubs required
- Must complete all required background checks and verifications prior to start
- Self-scheduling model allows some flexibility in shift selection
- Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience, including those new to travel nursing. Night shift, floating, and weekend work are required. EPIC experience and telemetry skills are essential.
