Job Description

• Provide nursing care to medical surgical patients including those with COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, and social issues.
• Take own patient assignments with RN support.
• Perform vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, physical restraints, specimen labeling.
• Administer oxygen via nasal cannula, manage feeding tubes, telemetry monitoring, and 12-lead EKG.
• Medication administration including oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops.
• IV therapy with pumps and blood glucose monitoring.
• Basic wound care (simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains), bathing, mouth care.
• Foley catheter insertion (male/female), clean catch urine collection.
• Communicate status changes to RN/MD.
• Work in a medical-surgical/telemetry care setting.
• Floating within skillset may be required.

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5-6 during day shifts.

Required Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in New York
• Minimum of 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience, with recent experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with IV therapy using pumps
• Experience with EPIC charting system

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, sex offender registry, education verification, and eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Various certifications as required by unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) may be required depending on unit assignment.
• Physical exam, immunizations, and health screenings including TB test, drug screening, flu vaccination or declination, and others must be completed within 5 days of contract signing.
• References and employment verification required.
• Compliance with state-specific requirements such as nurse aide registry and fingerprinting if applicable.

• Exposure to a variety of medical surgical patients.
• Scrub color: navy blue and white combinations.

• The client may cancel up to three shifts during the contract without penalty.
• Special scheduling requests must be submitted at time of application.
• Locals are accepted for this position.
• Floating within the skillset is expected.
