Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU Experience
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
Seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience. Candidates must have strong skills in pediatric critical care, NICU, and emergency department settings.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Experience with high-frequency jet ventilator
- Experience with oscillating ventilator
Work Schedule & Other Details
- Weekend shifts required: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (schedule published in 6-week blocks).
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.
- Flu vaccination is mandatory; no exemptions or declinations accepted.
- First-time travelers and local candidates within 75 miles are considered.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks including SSN trace, county checks for past 7 years, sex offender, international searches (if applicable), education verification, and sanction list searches.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Required immunizations/vaccinations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Polio, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually.
- References: Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, including at least one supervisor.
- Employment application and skills checklist updated annually.
- Facility-specific onboarding requirements including competency exams and online modules prior to orientation.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must set up a facility guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems.
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some documentation requirements waived.
- Candidates must complete all required competency checklists within 3 weeks after start date.
- Training for crisis prevention and other unit-specific competencies provided during orientation.
