Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Liberal, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a unit with:

  • 10 bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)
  • 4 bed Gynecology (GYN)
  • Post-operative care
  • 14 Well-baby beds
  • 3 Special Care Nursery beds
• Approximately 900 deliveries per year
• Team includes OB/GYN doctors and pediatricians
• Floating expected occasionally to Medical-Surgical (MS), ICU, and Emergency Room (ER) (2-3 times during the 13-week contract)
• Weekends required every other weekend (EOW)
• No call required
• Block scheduling is allowed and open for review
• Locals allowed to apply (with some rate adjustment)
• Radius restriction: 80 miles
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Proof of identity and eligibility to work (e.g., government-issued photo ID, Social Security card)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history and other federal/state checks, updated annually or per contract renewal
• Primary source verification of nursing license (NURSYS verification required)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start and urine drug screen on first day
• Immunizations and health documents:

  • Physical exam updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Vaccinations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Required competencies and exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology competency, core testing)
• References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Completion of employment application and skills checklist as required

Additional Notes

• Routine COVID-19 testing protocols based on community transmission levels
• Facility requires signing of various compliance and behavior standards forms prior to start
• Medical and religious accommodation forms available for COVID-19 vaccination exemptions
• Hair and urine drug screen required on the first day of assignment

This position is suitable for nurses with experience in labor and delivery who are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with occasional floating to other critical care areas. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
