Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in North Carolina
Location: Reidsville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) rotation, holidays as needed
Float: Required to float between all facilities within the system
Patient Population:
- Acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients
- Diagnoses include acute/chronic respiratory illness, post-op general surgery, post-op gynecological surgery, post-op total knee and hip replacements, orthopedics, acute and chronic pain, active GI bleeding, CHF/pulmonary edema, diabetes (hyper and hypoglycemic conditions), renal failure, drug overdose
- Patients with Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWA) score below 7
- Stable COVID patients
Exclusions: Suicidal patients, arrhythmia, radioactive therapy, uncontrolled or new onset seizures
Unit: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS Tele)
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
Travel Experience: First-time travelers are accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Pass/Fail EKG and medication testing (including dysrhythmia exam)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript/Diploma for highest education
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of employment history for last 5 years
- References: 2 supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Fingerprinting as required by North Carolina regulations
Additional Information
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Floating between units and facilities is mandatory for all travelers
- Candidates must complete all compliance requirements by the deadline prior to start date
- Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
Summary
This is a 13-week travel Registered Nurse position on a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit in North Carolina, requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience in the specialty. The role involves night shifts with floating responsibilities and care for a diverse patient population including post-op and medically complex patients.
