Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Ortho/Joint) - Nights

Location: Easton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend required
Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
Floating: Required within specialty and to other units within scope
Holidays: Required as scheduled
On-call: Not required

Job Description

• Medical Surgical RN with focus on Orthopedics/Joint care
• Night shift coverage
• Strong med/surg and ortho/joint experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
• Experience in Orthopedic Surgery nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to work holidays and float within specialty and related units
• Must complete all required background checks and verifications including:

  • 7-year criminal background check
  • Education verification
  • State-specific exclusions list check
• Must complete required health screenings and immunizations including:

  • Physical exam within 1 year
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as per protocol
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Drug screening (9 or 10 panel depending on location)
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
• Must complete competency exams as applicable (medication, EKG/dysrhythmia, age-specific)
• Must complete facility-specific documents and orientation requirements including confidentiality agreement, dress code review, and badge photo
• Must complete fit mask testing within 1 year prior to start

Orientation

• Held at 8:00 AM on Tuesdays (normal orientation days)
• Location: School of Nursing, 2nd Floor
• Dress code: Royal Blue scrubs or business casual (scrubs required when on floor)

References and Work History

• Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start
• Verification of at least 2 years hospital or equivalent acute care experience within last 5 years
