Description
Job Opportunity: ECMO Specialist
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The ECMO Specialist provides prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to patients whose heart and lungs cannot sustain adequate gas exchange or perfusion. This role involves delivering ECMO support across three critical care units: NICU, PICU, and CICU. Patients are supported on ECMO for respiratory and/or heart failure until recovery or as a bridge to lung/heart transplant.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an ECMO Specialist with pump management expertise.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) for NICU preferred
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required
Required Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (Primary source verification required)
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of ECMO ICU experience, including experience within the last year
- Pump management experience
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP certification
- TNCC certification
- CPSPD or CRCST certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Additional Information
- Candidates must carry photo identification during hours of service.
- Fingerprinting and background checks are completed onsite on the first day.
- Candidates must pass a pediatric medication test with a 100% score; failure to pass after two attempts results in cancellation.
- Facility is latex-free; candidates with latex allergy must disclose on physical exam.
- Surgical masks are mandatory for patient-facing roles.
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this assignment.
Prior Travel Experience
