Registered Nurse - Long Term Care

Location: Hot Springs, South Dakota
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide general nursing care to long-term care residents, guided by resident care plans, facility policies, and professional standards. Directly supervise Nursing Assistants and serve as the primary contact on assigned shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments and make nursing diagnoses to develop and implement care plans.
• Evaluate resident responses to nursing interventions.
• Coordinate outside physician visits to meet residents' medical needs.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, residents, families, and staff regarding care plans.
• Educate residents, families, and staff about the resident’s plan of care.
• Administer and document routine and emergency medications and treatments.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Perform safety and infection control procedures to maintain a safe environment.
• Participate in Quality Management programs to uphold care standards.
• Supervise resident assistants to ensure compliance with care plans.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills in IV therapy, including initiating IVs, administering initial medications, and managing central lines and catheters.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for South Dakota.
• Experience in long-term care nursing.
• Strong clinical assessment and care planning skills.
• Ability to supervise nursing assistants effectively.
• Knowledge of medication administration and IV therapy.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in the specialty (long-term care).
