Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Med Surg unit with 48 beds (average census 27)
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights)
- Staffing includes unit secretary (7am-11pm) and Patient Care Technicians (PCT) with occasional 1:1 coverage
- Equipment: Hoyer lift, automated BP machines, bladder scanner, remote telemetry monitoring, vein finder
- Documentation system: Altera/Allscripts Sunrise
- Scheduling: Every other week (EOW), 12-hour shifts preferred
- Floating: Floats to like Med Surg units; travelers generally float first
- Participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) on day shift Mon-Fri at 10:30-11:15am
- Team-oriented environment focused on patient care excellence
- New blood pressure machines and a strong team atmosphere
- Established unit practice council (UPC) meeting monthly

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Central line management experience (PICC, HD catheter, and midlines)
Procedures Performed on Unit
- Nasogastric tube (NGT) care and management
Dress Code
- No required uniform
- Scrubs and closed-toe shoes (no crocs)
Additional Information
- Hospital recently joined a larger healthcare system; prior knowledge of this system is a plus
- Brand new equipment and technology available
- Supportive and experienced staff team
