Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech

Location: Missoula, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Total Staffed Beds: 209
  • Teaching Hospital
  • Scrub Color: Any color for RN/Allied; scrubs provided in sterile units (OR/ICU/ER/COVID)
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: No fee
  • Float Policy: No floating between units required
  • On-Call: Yes, every 8th weekend plus 2-3 weeknights per month
  • Weekends: Required as per on-call schedule
  • Block Schedules: Not required
  • Expected Ratios: 1:1
  • 48-hour shifts: Not approved

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NBSTSA certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist, with experience within the last year

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
  • Other certifications as required by clinical track or specialty

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • Education Verification: Required for all candidates
  • Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; instant tests not accepted
  • Immunizations and Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent), updated annually
    • TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination accepted)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
    • COVID vaccine or declination

Work Requirements

  • Must complete required WorkRamp modules prior to start and annually thereafter, including:
    • Core regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules
    • Epic training modules (for SoCal and other specified regions)
  • References: Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
  • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format

Additional Notes

  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required
  • Candidates may be required to float to other facilities within a reasonable distance as per float policy acknowledgment
  • On-call and weekend work is mandatory as scheduled
  • Modules and certifications must be kept current and uploaded as required

This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level II Trauma short-term acute care setting with a supportive team and access to advanced electronic charting systems. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic schedule including on-call responsibilities and weekend shifts.
