Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Location: Polson, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position may float between units as needed.
  • No on-call required.
  • Weekend shifts required, distributed evenly among RNs.
  • No block schedules required.
  • Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 6:1.
  • Special requirement: Experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP).
  • Facility type: Critical Access Hospital with 22 staffed beds.
  • Charting system: Epic.
  • Scrub color: Any (OR provided).
  • Parking: No fee.

Required Qualifications

  • Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Specialty: Labor and Delivery
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in specialty
  • Licensure: Valid RN license for Montana.
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society.
    • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable).
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN or NCC-EFM).
    • Other certifications as required by clinical track or facility.
  • Competencies:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
    • Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment or valid EFM certification for L&D RNs.
  • Background Checks:
    • Comprehensive background check within 45 days of start.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
    • State-specific searches as applicable.
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
    • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) annually.
    • Immunizations: TDAP, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu (seasonal), COVID vaccine or declination.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
    • Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start.
    • Respiratory safety clearance annually.
  • References:
    • Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
  • Employment Application:
    • Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for any gaps or overlaps.

Additional Information

  • Floating Policy: May be required to float to other units or facilities within reasonable distance.
  • Documentation and compliance with facility-specific and state-specific requirements are mandatory.
  • Required to complete annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Epic charting training required.
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position.

  • Critical Access Hospital setting.
  • Use of Epic electronic health record system.
  • Collaborative team environment with varied patient ratios.
  • Scrubs provided for OR; scrub color flexible.
