Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical
Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- No call required
- Float as needed
- Charge RN experience required; RNs may be required to work as Charge RN if needed
- Unit size: 29 beds
- Patient population: Adults through geriatrics, orthopedic patients, medical surgical patients
- Telemetry monitoring available
- Physical therapy gym on unit for patient rehab
- High volume: total joint replacements, fracture repairs, kyphoplasties
- Moderate volume: other surgical procedures, inpatient and 24-hour observation medical patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Charge RN experience, including experience in charge roles
- Pass/Fail competency testing including EKG and medication exams, with acknowledgement of pass/fail testing policies
- Successful completion of Dysrhythmia/EKG exam
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- Pass/Fail EKG competency exam (2 attempts allowed, must score 82% or higher)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) may be preferred but not required for Behavioral Health RNs
Additional Information
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Candidate must complete compliance requirements by deadline prior to start date
- Candidate must review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement form
- Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Onboarding tasks include setting up multi-factor authentication and completing assigned tasks before arrival
- Facility-specific documents and health history form must be completed prior to clearance
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-volume medical surgical unit with diverse patient populations and requires a strong background in nursing with prior travel experience.
