Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Manchester, New Hampshire
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts (6:15 PM - 6:45 AM)
- 36 hours per week accepted
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call duties
Specialty

Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory care experience
- Experience in trauma, community hospital, ER, and adult ICU settings required
- Preferred experience: Level I trauma, teaching hospital, PICU, and acute care pediatrics
- Epic charting experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
Patient Population
- Infants through geriatrics required
- Neonates preferred (only if competency demonstrated)
- Pediatric ER and pediatrics only with demonstrated competency
- No level 3 NICU patients
Responsibilities
- Administer nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy (CPT), high flow oxygen, non-invasive ventilation (NIV), cough assist, and IPV
- Assist with intubations and bronchoscopies
- Manage mechanical ventilation and in-house transport of mechanically ventilated patients
- Continuous albuterol administration
Required Skills and Equipment Experience
- Airway management
- Medication administration
- Ventilator management
- Arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Oxygen therapy
- Suctioning
- Pulmonary toileting
- Nebulizer treatments
- BiPAP and CPAP
- Bronchoscope use preferred
- Preferred equipment: Puritan Bennett, Draeger, Servo I, LTV 1200/HT70
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Current New Hampshire state Respiratory Therapist license (RRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Certified Respiratory Therapist Technician (CRTT), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Comprehensive background check within 30 days of start, including:
- Social Security verification
- National sex offender registry
- Criminal history (excluding NH counties, replaced by NH State Police search)
- Education verification
- Motor vehicle background check if driving to patient homes
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 14 days prior to start (no exceptions)
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Annual fit mask test required (N95 or equivalent masks)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap (within last 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with 2-step PPD or equivalent)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or waiver
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 1) or approved exemption
- Respiratory Safety Clearance questionnaire required prior to start
- Pass/fail dysrhythmia/ECG competency exam required within 48 hours of contract signing for certain units
- Medication and competency exams required for internal purposes
Additional Requirements
- Two current professional references within the last 3 years (one must be from a supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Annual internal evaluation for travelers with 1+ year tenure
- Photo for badge (passport style, jpeg)
- Auto insurance proof required if driving to patient homes
- Facility-specific immunization exemption forms available for medical or religious reasons
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy (RRT) experience within the last year
- Experience in acute care settings, including trauma, community hospital, emergency room (ER), and adult ICU
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
