Registered Nurse - Home Care

Location: Alton, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Summary

Provide home care nursing services to patients with diagnoses such as COPD, heart failure, diabetes, wounds, oncology, infections requiring wound care, IV antibiotics, PICC lines, and wound vacs.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Weekend work required every 4th weekend (regular day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• Holiday work as needed (typically no more than one holiday during contract)
• No call or standby requirements

Patient Load

• Average of 5 patients per day, including travel time
• Responsibilities include start of care, recertifications, and daily visits

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or proof that application process has been initiated
• BLS Certification
• Strong assessment skills, time management, and ability to work independently
• Experience with home health care preferred
• Experience with EPIC EMR and lab draws is helpful
• Effective communication and education skills for patients and families
• Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free workplace)

Orientation & Support

• Approximately 2 weeks of unit/department-specific orientation
• Leadership available during business hours; 24/7 on-call support available by phone

Additional Information

• Dress code: Clean and professional scrubs of any color
• No respiratory therapy equipment required (vents, CPAP, BiPAP not applicable)
• Home Health Aides also staff the department but are separate from nursing duties
