Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an Electrophysiology (EP) Lab Tech with experience in cardiac electrophysiology procedures and hemodynamic monitoring. This role involves working day shifts (36 hours total, 07:00-19:30) with no on-call or weekend requirements.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of EP Lab clinical experience (higher specialty experience requirement applies)
- Unit accepts first-time travelers with required EP experience
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CCI RCES or RCIS certification
Preferred Certifications
- ARRT
- Fluoroscopy permit
Skills & Equipment Experience
- Proficient with Cerner electronic charting system
- Experience in Electrophysiology Lab procedures including hemodynamic monitoring and ablations
- EKG settings and experience required for inpatient and outpatient settings, including obtaining vitals and sinus node rhythms
- Equipment experience required: Philips and Siemens X-Ray machines, GE Micropacer
- Preferred equipment experience: 3D mapping systems (Biosense, Abbott/ESI), Siemens and GE ultrasound, laser lead machine
- Preferred skills: groin closure device, peripherals, laser lead extraction

- Cardiac Electrophysiology studies
- Head-Up-Tilt test
- Cardioversion
- Internal Loop Recorder
- Atrial flutter/fibrillation ablations
- Supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia ablations
- Device implants (Watchman, Aveir, Pacemaker, Defibrillator)
- Device explants and lead extractions
Work Environment
- Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital setting
- Average daily caseload: 18 patients
- Charting systems: Cerner, GE Cardiolab
- Medication dispensing: Pyxis
- Scrubs provided
- Flu vaccine required annually
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Electrophysiology Technician, including experience within the last year
- Experience as an EKG Technician
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- CCI certification (RCES or RCIS)
- Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- At least 1 year of EP Lab clinical experience
- Proficient in Electrophysiology (EP) Lab hemodynamic monitoring and ablations
- Experience with EKG settings in inpatient settings
- Proficient with Cerner electronic charting system
Required Background & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification for highest degree required by position
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with additional requirements if history of TB
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap (preferred)
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
Additional Requirements
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually
- Medication and pharmacology competency exam with minimum passing score of 80%
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for cardiac-related units with specific scoring criteria and remediation process
Notes
- No floating or weekend/on-call requirements
- Facility requires strict adherence to vaccination and health screening policies
- Travel candidates must complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
This position is ideal for EP Lab Techs with solid clinical experience in cardiac electrophysiology procedures seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity acute care setting.
