Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer

Location: Cambridge, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Date: April 20 (firm, no earlier starts)
  • Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Workload: Approximately 7 outpatient echos per day (about 1 per hour)
  • Work Setting: Adult Outpatient in an acute care hospital (59 staffed beds, teaching hospital)
  • Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs, including other metro sites
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Weekend Requirement: No
  • On-call: No
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Experience & Skills

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonography experience within the last year
  • Experience Required:
    • Adult patients in an outpatient setting
    • Echo techniques including:
      • 2-D Echo
      • 3-D Echo
      • Bubble Study
      • Imaging with Contrast Agents
      • M-Mode
      • Right Ventricular Inflow Tract (RVIT)
      • Right Ventricular Outflow Tract (RVOT)
    • Calculation experience with:
      • Diastology
      • LV Strain / LV Volume

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • RCS or RDCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer)
  • License: Must hold appropriate state license for Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer in Minnesota

Additional Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within one year of start date (7-year standard)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within one year
    • Fingerprinting and MN DHS Net Study Questionnaire required (time sensitive, must be completed immediately after contract signing)
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
    • Adult Tdap vaccination required (with exemptions accepted only with approval)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (or acceptable history documentation)
    • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
    • OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start
  • Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Skills Checklist: Annual skills checklist required

Work Environment & Notes

  • Charting System: Epic (Excellian)
  • Parking: Free in any unrestricted space
  • Uniform: Review uniform guidelines prior to start
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of signing contract
  • References: Not required for client clearance but may be required for per diem candidates

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • No prior travel experience required
  • Client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty
  • Candidates must complete assigned online pre-orientation modules within 72 hours of receiving login
  • Candidates must comply with all state and facility-specific credentialing and compliance requirements
