Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Work schedule includes every other weekend coverage.
• One winter and one summer holiday required, depending on contract length.
• No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius or specified counties in the Albany area.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist (RRT) experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background checks including 7-year work and residence history, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions (updated annually).
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start; must complete specific medical history forms during physical.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR boosters or positive titers)
  • Varicella (2 boosters or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required by December 5th, 2024 (mask required if exempt).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; 2-step PPD required with negative results.
• Fit testing for N95 mask (3M 1870) required; quantitative test only accepted if done externally.
• Color blindness test (Ishihara) required prior to start.

Competency & Testing

• Must pass advanced EKG/ECG competency exam with a minimum 90% score within 72 hours of contract signing.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Additional competency exams may be required depending on unit assignment.

Additional Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
• Photo for badge (passport-style, plain background).
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for RNs and LPNs; may apply).
• Lift assessment (typically 25 lbs, may vary by position).
• References: 2 professional references required for travel and acute care positions.
